The Costa Daurada

The Costa Daurada is located 1 hour away from Barcelona by car and 100 km from the Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport . This area also has its own airport, located in Reus. With an 81 kilometer-long coastline, the Costa Daurada is an ideal destination for holidays or year-round getaways.

This area has an excellent climate. The weather in Salou is so good that you can enjoy the coast bathed by the Mediterranean almost all year round. This is a land rich in historical, cultural and landscape heritage.

The Costa Daurada, which takes its name from the golden tone that the reflection of the sun gives to the sand on its beaches, is a natural space of great beauty and interest full of contrasts: you can wander through rocky mountain areas with lots of vegetation and, just a few kilometers away, bathe in the fresh sea water. On the Costa Daurada there are quiet, picturesque beaches, cozy coves among Mediterranean vegetation as well as urban beaches.

The Costa Daurada for families

This land is ideal for family holidays, with an offer and infrastructure catering for the needs of the little ones. The towns of Salou, Cambrils, Vila-seca, La Pineda Platja, Calafell, El Vendrell and the Muntanyes de Prades, as well as the PortAventura World theme park, are a good example of it, as they are certified by the Generalitat de Catalunya as Family Tourism Destinations. We encourage you to join the activities proposed by Trip & Kids!

In addition, this area has several UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as Tarragona and its Roman heritage. Let’s not forget the medieval past of the Cistercian Route or the modernism that comes to life through the so-called Paisatge dels Genis route, which proposes a route through the modernism of Gaudí in Reus, the heritage of Joan Miró in Mont-Roig and the influences of Pau Casals in El Vendrell. There are also several outstanding landscape attractions such as Poblet, a Natural Site of National Interest, the forest of the Prades Mountains and the Montsant Natural Park or the Cartoixa d'Escaladei monastery.

The Costa Daurada is a great destination for food lovers: fish from the Mediterranean Sea or meat from cattles raised inland are some of the ingredients that appear in many recipes, as well as the wines of five protected designations of origin: DOQ Priorat, DO Montsant, DO Conca de Barberà, DO Tarragona and DO Penedès.

In addition, the environmental wealth of the Costa Daurada can be discovered thanks to several hiking routes, bicycle circuits or BTT, without forgetting the all-season practice of golf.
