The church was built in 1766 by the sailors' union, which was established in the first half of the century. Originally it was a modest chapel, with a single nave and a belfry bell, baroque style and classicist lines. Between the years 1930 and 1950 saw the expansion of the church. The side ships, the cruise ship and the dome were lifted, as we know it today. The interior features the murals of Lluís M. Güell made between 1954 and 1966, and the paintings that decorate the baptistry, the work of contemporary artist Josep Grau Garriga, made in 1964.
