The Tourist Board, together with the private sector, has made an action in Erfurt, along with the tour operator Thomas Cook-Neckerman

The Tourist Board of Salou, together with the business sector of the municipality, has accomplished an action of promotion in the German city of Erfurt in order to position Salou among the main destinations of sun and beach for the German market. This action has been carried out with the tour operator Thomas Cook-Neckerman. There have been some meetings with the main companies in this sector in order to find ways of collaborating so as to attract more tourists to Salou in this 2015 season.

A stand, advertising, merchandising of Salou and a video of the destination were the main tools used in order to do networking and schedule interviews with German travel agents.

The tourism councillor Benet Presas states that “in the Municipal Tourist Board we think these actions are very important to keep working successfully with the German market and improve the number of visitors”. In fact, Presas reminds us that some years ago Salou had already tried to improve its position in the German market, which represents 2% of all the tourists that come to the capital of Costa Daurada.

However, in 2013, there was a 9% increase in the number of German tourists that visited Catalonia compared to 2012; therefore, there is an interest in this destination. It is also worth mentioning that 18% of all German tourists arriving in Catalonia are families, and that this year everything points to an increase in family tourism (couples with children up to 13) and senior citizens.

The action consisted of receiving German agents in the Salou stand as well as having dinner with them to strengthen the image of Salou in the Spanish market.  The perception was very positive.

Salou attends the Vakantiebeurs fair in Utrecht

Vakantiebeurs is one of the main fairs of the Dutch market and it is the first one of the season for Salou to attend.

In the previous year, this Dutch fair received over 117,000 visitors and had more than 1,200 stands. Most of the Dutch tourists that visit Catalonia are families traveling during the school holiday season.

Costa Daurada has been promoted in the 45th Vakantiebeurs fair, in the Dutch city of Utrecth, in its own space within the stand of the Catalan Tourist Board.

Thirteen entities from Costa Daurada have participated together in this fair, including the Tourist Boards and Offices of Cambrils, El Vendrell, Montroig, Salou, Tarragona, Torredembarra and Vila-seca and the Campsite, Apartment and Hotel Associations.

The Costa Daurada Water Sports Centre and the Priorat Enoturisme Association have also attended the fair.
