The DanceSport championship filled the Sport Centre in Salou the whole weekend. More than 2200 contestants and more than 8000 attendants are the result of one of the most emblematic sportive events in town.

The 16th edition of the Spanish Open Salou 2014 has finished with more couples and groups from around the world participating. The Open has brought together more than ten competitions divided into different categories (adult, youth and senior) and different dancing styles (Latin and Standard).

More than 2200 contestants from 23 different countries, 1892 dancers and 14 groups, have performed on the dance floor this weekend. They have been evaluated by 33 judges from 14 different countries

Some of the Spanish couples had the chance to reach the top positions in different categories.

The mayor, Pere Granados, who was in charge of delivering the prizes to the winning couples, is satisfied and delighted with the event since “once again, the organization of the act and the number of visitors have been a success. It is also remarkable the international image that Salou broadcasts through the media that covers this wonderful event, both nationally and internationally”.

Attention should also be drawn to the 5thEdition of the OPEN SHOW DANCE for groups, a variation of the groups’ competition, which took place on Sunday evening, due to the originality and color that the eight Youth teams and six Adult teams showed on the dance floor.

On Monday, the weekend came to an end with the national competition, the XVI SPANISH OPEN, in the Standard and Latin categories. From 8am to 10pm the best national sport dancers performed in the Sport Center in Salou.

There was also a special award ceremony: the Challenge TV dance cup. The best classified competed against the best of the Rome open, which was held from the 7th to the 9th November, and the winners received both a trophy and a monetary prize.
