In Salou, your best times will surely be spent on its beaches or along the coast. With over 14 kilometres of coastline, you will find urban, adapted, accessible beaches in Salou with full services. There are also stunning hidden coves sheltered by looming cliffs and pine forests, more peaceful and away from all the hustle and bustle.
Salou has made a clear commitment to high quality and user-friendly services, to ensure that you have a great time there. Ponent Beach and Llevant Beach, within the town limits, are shining examples of the stamp of Family Tourist Destination that was awarded to Salou: they are totally accessible and have services for all members of the family.
Both for example have children’s playgrounds. Llevant Beach has taken this to a new extreme, with the Kiddie Club, which is open in July and August, and has workshops run by specialised instructors and great experiences that your kids will not soon forget.
There are permanent lifeguard and rescue services at Ponent, Llevant, Capellans and Llarga beaches. There are surveillance rounds that take in all of Cape Salou and the coves that don’t have permanent lifeguards
Destination with quality and environmental certificates
- Quality, excellence and respect for the environment are the standards used when working on the Salou coast. All of the municipality’s beaches have been awarded ISO 14001 Environmental Certification, an international recognition that guarantees the implementation and maintenance over the years of management that respects the environment. ISO 14001 is renewed on an annual basis via an audit performed by AENOR (the Spanish Standardisation Organisation).
- The Q flag for Quality flies proudly at the Ponent and Llevant beaches, a certificate granted by the Spanish Institute for Tourist Quality (ICTE), which certifies the quality of the services available on these two beaches.
- Inspections by bodies such as the Environmental and Consumer Education Association (ADEAC) and the Environmental Education Foundation (FEE) have concluded that Llevant beach not only pass, but exceed all hygiene and quality standards. These organisations conduct their inspections based on four criteria: the quality of the bathing waters, environmental information and education, environmental management, and safety, services and facilities.
