TORRE VELLA 

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | The archbishop of Tarragona, Pere de Cardona, ordered the construction of the Torre Vella de Salou in 1530 with the intention of protecting the population from the raids of the pirates who arrived at the port.
Currently, it houses the Museu de l'Esmalt (Enamel Museum) and is the venue of several exhibitions and civil marriages. 

THE HARBOURMASTER'S HOUSE

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | The Harbourmaster’s building was built in 1820 and was part of the infrastructure of the port of Salou.
The natural port of Salou had an intense commercial activity over the centuries, especially in the 17th and 18th centuries, with the brandy trade.

SANTA MARIA DEL MAR CHURCH 

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | The Church of Santa Maria del Mar, built in 1766, was initially a simple and modest chapel with a single nave and a belfry.
Later, between 1930 and 1950, the church was extended. Now the frescoes by Lluís M. Güell and the paintings by Josep Grau Garriga stand out.

THE OLD CARRILET STATION 

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | The old Carrilet station ─ inaugurated in 1857─ was built to transport the goods that arrived on the conventional railway line to Reus.
For this reason, it was located next to the other railway station, where one of the first steam locomotives that made the 8.2 kilometer journey is currently preserved. 

OLIVE TREES 

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? |  The central stretch of the 30 d’Octubre promenade is occupied by sixteen monumental olive trees, whose age is around a thousand years. 

ART NOVEAU HOUSES

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? The Bonet villa, one of the most emblematic and photographed buildings in Salou, was the work of one of Antoni Gaudí's disciples (the architect Domènec Sugranyes i Gras). In addition, at the beginning of the Jaume I promenade, many noucentista-style villas converge, such as Loperena, Mallorquí or Torremar, among others.

THE ORNAMENTAL FOUNTAINS

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | There are two ornamental fountains (Cybernetic and Luminous) offering shows with water, light and color at night. There is also the Labyrinth Fountain for the little ones, and the original Els Cargols (the Snails) fountain, located at the beginning of the Jaume I promenade. 
 

ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | There are two archaeological sites in Salou. One of them is the Protohistoric Village of La Cella-Kallipolis, located in the cape of Salou, and the other one is the Roman Village of Barenys. 

PARKS AND GREEN SPACES

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | Salou has three green areas that stand out above the rest: the Municipal Park, the Platja Llarga Viewpoint Natural Park and the Cala Morisca Park. 

THE COASTAL PATH 

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | Salou has a 9.49 kilometer Coastal Path (from Punta de Sant Pere to Racó de Salou), a sustainable project that wants to recover the coast of Salou, full of spectacular viewpoints surrounded by nature. 

THE VIEWPOINT ROUTE

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | Salou has a spectacular route with twenty-five viewpoints overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, which make up a pleasant way to stroll along the Coastal Path. 

CAP DE SALOU

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | The cape of Salou is an area of ​​great cultural, historical and geological interest and, in addition, it is the only area declared of ​​geological interest between the Ebro Delta and the Costa Brava.

THE LIGHTHOUSE 

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | Inaugurated in April 1858 and surrounded by a unique natural space, the Salou Lighthouse has a central red tower that, even today, illuminates the Gulf of Sant Jordi. 
Besides, its three magnificent viewpoints offer unique views of the Mediterranean! 

THE KING JAUME I

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | On September 6, 1229, King Jaume I gathered the Catalan-Aragonese squadrons in the port of Salou and set sail for the conquest of Mallorca. This important historical event is commemorated every year, the first week of September, with a festival in honor of the king. In addition, the Jaume I promenade is also named after him, and two more memorials have been erected: the monument in the center of the promenade and a sculptural ensemble next to the Pilons area. 

PIRATES

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | Corsairs were obsessed with the port of Salou, as it was one of the epicenters of maritime trade in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Some defense towers were built to protect the port, such as the Torre Vella. Moreover, the Coastal Path served to escape from the pirate attacks. 

BUNKERS

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | Several bunkers from the time of the Civil War still remain in Salou and some of them are visible in areas such as El Porroig viewpoint, Punta del Cavall or Bosc de la Glorieta.

The beaches of Llevant and Ponent also have the Q quality label thanks to the quality of their services, and the Safe Tourism Certified label for the protocols followed during health emergencies.

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | The five best places to see the sunset are the viewpoints of La Bocana, Els Pilons, El Porroig, La Punta Prima and La Punta del Cavall.

SPORT TOURISM DESTINATION 

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | Salou got the Sports Tourism Destination seal awarded by the Catalan Tourism Agency in 2013, which certifies that the town has high-quality facilities and services for the practice of sport. 
Besides, Salou is specialized in football (2013) and sailing (2016), and got the cycling tourism (2018), golf (2020) and triathlon (2021) certifications. 

PET FRIENDLY

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | Salou has the Pet Friendly certification and offers a dog-friendly area on Ponent beach during the bathing season, next to Barenys street. The rest of the year, from November until the week before Easter, dogs are allowed on all beaches.
We also have two leisure spaces in Parc Manel Albinyana and in the Emprius area, and a refreshing space for dogs in the Jaume I promenade.

CYCLING

🤔 DID YOU KNOW THAT...? | Salou has more than twenty-two kilometers of cycle paths, and it is also the starting point of several routes towards the Prades mountains and the Priorat area.
