Coastal Path in Salou

The Coastal Path is a 6.5 km path that runs along the coast from the Pilons area to the Salou Lighthouse, located in Cap Salou. The route consists of 2 sections: from Pilons to Replanells (2 km) the path is fully prepared. On the other hand, from Replanells to the lighthouse (4.5 km) it is a natural path, not fully prepared.

Historically, the coastal paths followed the coastline and were used for coastal surveillance or by fishermen. The recovery of this route restores the possibility of walking along the coastline at points where it was impossible to do so for many years.

Discover the Coastal Path in Salou

The Coastal Path reveals the great natural and scenic wealth of the area. In addition to the different panoramic views that can be discovered along the way, the path runs along different coves and beaches in Salou, making it a different way of discovering the Cap Salou area.

From Pilons, the path heads south and passes Capellans beach, where you can see the remains of the old lazaretto, built in 1829. The route continues along Llenguadets cove, from where you can see the bunkers built during the Civil War. The last stretch corresponds to the Llarga beach, a natural setting far from the tourist area.

Although the path reaches a maximum height of 77 metres above sea level, with sections that are slightly more difficult, most of the route is suitable for everyone.

Get to know Cap Salou

Cap Salou reveals yet another possibility. Due to its location, it is a place of interest for the observation of sea birds that are difficult to see from the beach. Thus, with the help of telescopes and other types of optical instruments, it is possible to observe shearwaters, skuas, gannets, puffins, auks, loons, loons, common storm-petrels and sea ducks, such as common scoters and spectacled scoters. Several species of gulls can also be observed, among which Audouin's gull is relatively abundant and easy to see in spring and autumn.
