The Harbour Master Building was built in 1820 and was an essential part of the infrastructures at the Port of Salou. Over the centuries, Salou’s natural port has been extremely busy, particularly between the 17th and 18th century, with the trading of liquor. The intense coming and going made this building a necessity, along with the Customs House. The building was disentailed in the early 20th century and changed into private hands.

The Harbour Master building has conserved part of its original appearance, although it has undergone many changes. It originally only had a ground floor and a first floor (and now has two), but take note of the old horse trough and drinking fountain on the side facing onto the Miramar Esplanade.
