Torre Vella in Salou

The Torre Vella is an art centre located on Carrer Arquebisbe Pere de Cardona. This place is used for exhibitions of paintings and the contemporary enamel museum, with a collection of enamels by national and international artists. In addition, if the City Council gives its approval, civil weddings can be held here.

The archbishop of Tarragona, Pere de Cardona, ordered the construction of this defensive building in 1530 to protect the population and their goods from pirate raids on the Port of Salou, attracted by the commercial fleets. The exterior has its original appearance, with the heraldic coat of arms above the doorway. The tower is connected by a bridge to the annex buildings, built in the 18th century. The interior has been renovated and houses a cultural centre dedicated mainly to art exhibitions.
