The unbeatable weather has positioned Salou as a sport destination, and many professional teams and athletes come here to train, for football, cycling, track and field, golf, water sports, and many others. Furthermore, in 2013 Salou was awarded Sport Tourism Destination for football.

In recent years, the combination of the great weather and the creation of infrastructures have multiplied the high quality sport offerings, both for professional teams and athletes, and amateurs having fun. Thus, Salou has become renowned as an exceptional sport tourism destination throughout the year. The wide range of accommodation and restaurants have adapted to the inflow of high-level athletes, who are increasingly numerous.

The reference point for all water sports has to be the Nautical Station. It offers and coordinates nautical and complementary activities (MTB routes and golf for example) and lodging. The activities it offers range from the most traditional, such as canoeing and scuba diving, to parasailing and water skiing.

The possibilities of playing golf here are superb and very attractive for all levels of golf aficionados. The three courses at Lumine Golf are set in a privileged natural setting, surrounded by pine trees, and with exceptional views of the sea.

In 2013 Salou was awarded Sport Tourism Destination for football. The newly constructed installations at the Salou Football Sports Complex, ensure that you can play this sport at the very highest level, with the aim of becoming an international leader for training camps for professional teams.

Cycling teams and water sport teams and open-sea swimmers have discovered that the town’s conditions for training are excellent.

The municipality also hosts mass events such as the Mitja Marató (half marathon), the Challenge Salou triathlon and the Rally RACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada.
