What do the flags mean that are on the beach?

Before taking a dip in the sea, you should look to see which colour flag is waving on the beach. Flags show the safety of the water, as determined by security personnel.

Green flag: Calm waters. Swimming permitted.

Yellow flag: Water with waves. Swim using precaution.

Red flag: Strong currents and/or waves. No swimming in sea.

Can we get married on the beach in Salou?

No. In Salou, civil marriages are performed at the Justice of the Peace or at the Torre Vella.

Are there beaches accessible for people with reduced mobility?

Yes, the two main beaches in Salou, LlevantBeach and PonentBeach, are adapted to offer secure access with no architectural barriers all the way onto the sand.

Salou’s two main beaches have an access point where all services come together that are adapted for people with reduced mobility: Reserved parking spaces, catwalk to the ‘wet area’, adapted showers, amphibious chairs and general information on the beaches.

Can I bring my dog onto the beaches in Salou?

Salou started the Pet Friendly project in 2022. For this reason, from 1st June 2024, a coexistence family area with dogs and pets has been set up on Ponent beach. This delimited area is located in front of Esperanto street and C street, has 46 metres wide x 38 metres deep, and has a surface area of 1,785.27m2.

In this area, respect the coexistence measures displayed at the beach entrance.


As for the rest of the beaches in the city of Salou, dogs and pets are not allowed during the bathing season:

- from Friday before Easter until the first Sunday of November.

During the rest of the year they are allowed on the beaches of Salou, as long as they do not disturb other users of the public space.

Can I fish on the beaches of Salou?

The Salou City Council provides free Wi-Fi at the public areas signposted with 'Salou connecta’t’.

Can I stay overnight with a motorhome?


In the area located on avinguda Joan Fuster, s/n (near the Salou-PortAventura train station) motorhomes and campervans are allowed to park and spend the night, but caravans and vehicles with trailers are not allowed.

This space with 70 places is not guarded and does not offer water filling and emptying service.

What is the tourist tax?

The tourist tax is applied to stays in tourist establishments –hotels, tourist apartments, campgrounds, rural lodging, youth hostels, designated overnight sleeping areas for mobile homes and cruise ships- in Catalonia.

* An extra 10% VAT will be applied on the tourist tax
