The grey psammodromus (Psammodromus edwarsianus) is a small lacertid lizard with a relatively high, robust head in proportion to its body. The species is in decline, primarily as a result of habitat loss. It is commonly found in areas with sparse, low vegetation and gently undulating terrain. It is particularly associated with Mediterranean scrubland, low coastal shrub communities, sandy areas and vegetated dunes. The species shows a preference for sandy or loosely compacted soils.
Pla de Maset supports an important population of this lizard. Owing to its vulnerability, it is a protected species.
