Reus

Located in the heart of the Costa Dorada, Reus is renowned as a shopping city, as well as for its modernist heritage and its close links with the universal architect Antoni Gaudí.

Of medieval origin and with almost a thousand years of history, Reus experienced its moment of splendour from the 18th century onwards, thanks to the export of the eau-de-vie that was produced in the city. At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, the great modernist style buildings were built in Reus, making it, after Barcelona, the most important modernist city in Catalonia.

Everything you can do in Reus

Today, the city has one of the most important collections of modernist-style buildings in Europe, which you can discover on the Modernisme Route, an itinerary through the 26 most outstanding buildings of this style in the city, among which the works of the great architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, who built the Pere Mata Institute, the Navàs house, the Rull house and the Gasull house in Reus, are particularly noteworthy.

Antoni Gaudí's birthplace, in Reus you can also visit the most emblematic places of the architect's childhood and youth, which you can discover by walking along the Gaudí Route, as well as a modern interpretation centre dedicated exclusively to the life and work of the genius, the Gaudí Centre.

Today, the entrepreneurial spirit that has always characterised the city is reflected in the great commercial dynamism of the historic centre, diversified and of high quality, and in the intense cultural and festive life, with a wide-ranging programme that takes place throughout the year.

Just 9 km from Salou and 15 km from Tarragona, we recommend that you set aside a day of your trip to get to know this modernist city and everything that surrounds it in depth.
