Salou registered, in 2018, a total of 7.976.804 overnight stays, which is a 0,6% less than the previous year. Once again, and according to a report by Parc Científic i Tecnològic de Turisme i Oci, the capital of Costa Daurada is very attractive destination for those willing to enjoy their holidays.

In the same way, climate, knowing the destination, recommendations from friends, PortAventura World and Salou's 9 beaches became, once again, the main attractions tourist value when choosing their holidays destinations.

Tourists that stayed in hotels, campsites and apartments in Salou in 2018 meant an occupation rate of 70,2%, 2,5 points over last year's numbers. If you look a bit closer, we'll see hotels reached an occupation rate of 81,5% from the available rooms, with apartments reaching an 45,1%.

As for where tourists visiting Salou came from in 2018, we find the national Spanish market in the first place, with 35,8%, followed by the British market, with 19,9%, French market, with 12,5%, Russian market, with 10,7%, and Irish market, with 6,1%.

Website and social networks

Once more, the interaction of users via our website and social networks has become a key factor. Thus, we find that www.visitsalou.eu surpassed last year's numbers, with 512.693 visitors in total (14,13% more than 2017), with 81,3% of new users.  

Social networks registered a higher growth in comparison with 2017. Thus, VisitSalou's Facebook Page reached 14.380 followers, which translates into a growth of 2.728 followers.

Twitter went past 2.700 followers, reaching 2.721 on 31 December 2018. Reach for all the posts was over 1.200.000 users, more than in 2017.

Finally, Instagram became, once again, one of the most popular social networks. The over 350 photos posted allowed it to reach 7.820 followers –almost 2.000 more–, and an average of 436 "like", 26 "like" per photo more than in 2017.
