Salou registered, in 2019, a total of  8.088.068 overnight stays, which is a 0,8% more than the previous year. Once again, and according to a report by Parc Científic i Tecnològic de Turisme i Oci, the capital of Costa Daurada is very attractive destination for those willing to enjoy their holidays.

In the same way, climate, knowing the destination, recommendations from friends, PortAventura World and Salou's 9 beaches became, once again, the main attractions tourist value when choosing their holidays destinations.

Tourists that stayed in hotels, campsites and apartments in Salou in 2019 meant an occupation rate of 69,4%, a 5% more than last year's numbers. 

As for where tourists visiting Salou came from in 2018, we find the national Spanish market in the first place, with 3.111.000 overnight stays (+8,1%), followed by the British market, with 1.491.000 (-6,9%), French market, with 915.000 (-8,6%), Russian market, with 906.000 (+4,8%), and Irish market, with 496.000 (+2%).

Website and social networks

Once more, the interaction of users via our website and social networks has become a key factor. Thus, we find that www.visitsalou.eu surpassed last year's numbers, with 643.543 visits in total (+25,52%), with 81,1% of new users.  

Social networks registered, more than ever, an unstopable growth. Thus, VisitSalou's Facebook Page went past 20.000 followers (20.043), which translates into a growth double that reached in 2017.

Twitter went past 3.000 followers, reaching 3.167 on 31 December 2019.

Finally, Instagram became, once again, one of the most popular social networks. The over 350 photos posted allowed it to reach 11.544 followers –almost 4.000 more, double the growth compared to 2018–, and an average of over 500 "like", 64 "like" per photo more than in 2018.
