Salou was certified in 2003 as the first FAMILY TOURISM destination in Catalonia, a seal awarded by the Catalan Government to tourist destinations that offer a high percentage of facilities and services adapted to the needs of families with children. Salou is a UNIQUE destination that offers a wide variety of services in accommodation, catering, activities and entertainment, with the aim of ensuring an ideal vacation or stay for families, with the highest quality and safety.

Sports Tourism
Salou was awarded the Catalan Tourism Agency SPORTS TOURISM DESTINATION seal in 2013. This seal certifies that the municipality has high quality sports facilities and services for all levels: elite, professional and amateur. The first activity to receive this prestigious seal was football, following the instalment of the Futbol Salou Sports Center. In 2016, Salou was awarded the seal for Dinghy sailing, acknowledging the quality facilities at the Nautical Club, which makes the most of the area’s amazing beaches and its maritime natural resources to carry out nautical activities. And finally, in 2018 the certification was also awarded to the town for bicycle tourism, confirming the municipality as an ideal destination for cycling professionals and lovers. And in 2020 Salou won the Golf brand and in 2021 the destination gets certified with the Triathlon modality.Salou continues to host a variety of national and international sporting events, including: Salou Challenge, Rally RACC Costa Daurada, Raceboard World Championships, Mare Nostrum Cup and Rally Costa Daurada Legends, and is also a sub-site of the 2018 Mediterranean Games.
